OUR STORY

When Bradley Oke first saw the building that was once a fishing hut, he saw it as a hidden gem and a restaurant opportunity. Over the years the building had many incomplete attempts at renovations and revival methods. Located on a prime spot along the rivers edge, Brad accepted the challenge. Many changes were made to the building during renovations; the roof was raised, floors were re-poured and the walls were reinsulated. Renovations gave the building a sophisticated yet comfortably beachside feeling. The restaurant was named Smackwater Jacks Taphouse and opened mid summer July 2012. Smackwater Jacks remains a anchor in the Grand Bend community, being one of Grand Bends favourite year-round restaurants and bar. Smackwater Jacks is owned and operated by father and son team, Brad and Andy Oke.
